The Power of Goals

I used to think that when I would set a goal, it would take a long time to see results.

Then I realized it was because of how I set goals. Whenever I set “goals” it was more like me declaring “wants” and “hoping” they would manifest. Yes, I took some actions, but minimal because I didn’t really believe my efforts were going to pay off…

I had all this doubt about my goals actually manifesting. In the Extreme Book Club we are currently reading Michael Losier’s book, Law of Attraction. There’s a powerful lesson on allowing: the removal of doubt that really cleared up a few things for me.

You see, when I had been setting goals, they were definetely things I wanted. I could even see myself having them and achieving them. But in my heart, I had alot of doubt. Nothing I would share with others, it was more like a secret…a secret of doubt. There were pictures of past events, questions about my commitment, questions about everything really.

And, it was no wonder that I wasn’t achieving my goals. What was even more shocking, was that I was OK with it. Why was I OK with it? Why wouldn’t I be devastated that I hadn’t achieved my goal! I mean, should I be throwing some kind of temper trantrum at the universe for not delivering to me exactly what I wanted????

Well, the first time I read the Law of Attraction, I got it. Why was I OK with not achieving my “goals”? Because I never really expected to. So, it all panned out really how I thought it would…the doubts I had all along were confirmed and it was my doubts that were delivered right as scheduled by the universe. So, it was perfectly logical and perfectly OK that I would settle for mediocrity.

Duh…right?

We’ll, the realization of this is what had me through a temper tantrum. “Come on” I shouted, “I know this stuff!!!!“.

So, why wasn’t I doing it. The Gap Between Knowing and Doing!!!

Thank goodness for that lesson in Beyond Freedom and the Liberty League community. So, this time, with new enthusiasm and an I know I can do it attitude, I spent a few hours defining what I really am committed to achieving. I wrote it down, threw it out, rewrote it, threw it out and finally after several “rough drafts” finalized my goal…a goal I’m excited and passionate about.

On Wednesday and Thursday I spent the entire day with my goal card; reading, re-reading, and reading again. I was even reading it aloud to John. It’s been like an appendage on my body. And the results are coming fast and furious!

What have I noticed? Well first of all, all of the guests I’ve invited to calls have been calling me back. And, several have gotten started in my business. I’m easily making decisions that are moving me forward. Also, I’m having more fun!

Yes, I said more fun!!! Releasing the doubt has allowed me to stop pushing and pushing and pushing. I’m just having fun because I know my goal is manifesting so there’s no forcing or pushing I have to do.

It’s amazing! I’m so grateful I decided to commit to Beyond Freedom again and am doing it with this community. The results we are all experiencing are amazing.

So, here’s the other part I’ll share. On Friday, I spent most of the day doing my animal rescue work. It’s incredibly rewarding, but also a huge sacrifice. Why? Because I submerge myself into an uncontrolled environment of broke, burnt out, struggling people…who have no desire to change. I also have to “deal” with degenerates…people who just dump animals because now they are “tired of them”.

I only read my goal card once that day and by time I got home, I was exhausted (physically, mentally and emotionally) and I plopped on my couch and turned on the TV…like a robot. Half way through, I caught myself and promptly turned off the TV. What had caused me to do that? It was like I was a zombie blindly following some innate programming.

And that is exactly what it was. I wasn’t focusing on my goal, my old programming took over and I went into a state of comfortable oblivious-ness. That is how quickly it can happen. So, needless to say I’m remarried to my goal card and am back on track!

See you on the call. Can’t wait to talk about visualizing…this is powerful!

  1. Hi everyone. I love this technology even though I am in Greece I am still connected and can still be an active participant in this amazing community. Thank you to Shannon and John for their detication and passion. They are a tower of strength and mentors to many of us here in Liberty League. I had a bit of a problem with not remembering where I put my goal card. Because I wanted it everywhere I went I had the knack of leaving it in places you wouldn`t think. Kid`s bed, in the fridge (that was my best one, my daughter asked if we were having a goal card salad for lunch), in the washing machine ( didn`t look like much when it came out but it smelled nice), and lately at the post office. How they knew it was mine was simple it was in English and automatically put my name to it. I have now found a solution I have made copies and now I don`t need to fret. I just pick up a copy and continue my day with a smile on my face wondering where I will find my misplaced goal card. Goal cards the best experience for me.
Remember when it`s dark enough, you can see the stars. You will always find the way believe in yourself. Tracey from Greece.

  2. Hi Shannon.

Thank you SO MUCH for doing this!

I am excited to join your call on Sunday.

The Advanced Advisor call on Tuesday was amazing–so much came up for me. I have been trying to bake a cake without all the ingredients!

I am recommitted to diving into my Beyond Freedom, and I started a blog, too, as my evidence log.

Thanks for being such a great example to all of us. :o )

  3. Shannon,

One of my challenges being here now with LLI and my “new life” has been trusting the process espoused by our company, our Beyond Freedom product and supported by our loving community. I had been conditioned for so long to never want anything that could be taken away from me by another and never get emotionally attached to anything (especially inanimate objects) that could be taken away from me as well. That type of conditioning generally leads one to making safe goals and safe risks so that in the evnt they are not fulfilled or fulfilled and taken away, the potential financial or emotional loss is kept to a minimum. For me to now be expected to add feeling/emotion/passion to my goal(s) definitely forces me out of my conditioned, comfort zone, but it is well worth it. There is power in this. When I see and hear the evidence doing this has through observing and listening to the manifestation of other’s dreams and goals here at LLI, it’s “safe” or “ok” for me to do this now and “safe” and ok” to expect that when my goal(s) is achieved, that I’ll be able to keep it/maintain it for as long as I choose to, without doubt or fear. I now trust the process.

  4. Hi Shannon,

First of all, Thank you for all you are and do!
I am always amazed at the incredible tools, resources, books, conference calls, and tele-classes that are out there to help us move forward towards what we want to achieve. This past week was no different, great information came through my simple tool – the telephone. The particular call I listened to explained why some people are not getting the results they want with the Law of Attraction. I found the information valuable and trust you will too.

Here are the 7 traps we can get into:
    1. Unclear Vision.
Some folks just do not have a clear vision. If you feel like you have to work really hard on the chosen vision, something is wrong. Your vision must be emotionally compelling and feel like it is pulling you along and that you are riding a wave. The FEELING needs to feel easy. If you are on the right track there is a magical quality about your vision.
So how does your vision feel to you? Spend time discovering what you really love to do.

    2. Emotional Blockages
Too many folks are not clearing out emotional blockages when they come up. Without clearing these blocks you will self-sabotage. Deal immediately with negative emotions as they come up. Get relief first and you will feel like you are off and running. Then get resolution. There are a number of techniques and strategies out there to help you do that.

    3. Not Completely Understanding Law of Attraction

Many folks may have listened to erroneous comments or have not paid close attention to the details of the Law of Attraction. Some don’t take action. You need to take action as the law works through you. Some people think they only need to sit and think. You need to give the Universe a channel to get the goods to you and get course corrections. Napoleon Hill, Wallace Wattles and Charles Haanel all give great wisdom on this point.

Analogy: If you are not in your sailboat when the winds come, you will not be able to take the course corrections. The feedback you get is important and you must pay close attention to it.

When the steps are taken the doubt gets removed. You will stay in fear till you do take action. You will not know how you will achieve your goal but once the first step is taken the next step will appear. But without the first step, the how cannot appear.

See the results. Stay focused on results and the Universe will provide the results. The How to will be shown to you. If you try to figure it out you won’t see the course corrections.

It is important to ask for what you are capable of. Remember you are so much more capable than you think. Do not ask the infinite intelligence for things that are completely menial. Do what you can and leave the harder stuff to the Universe.

The process adjusts to our mentality. Lots can happen very quickly.
The temptation that is dangerous is to let our self be controlled by what we think is possible.

    4. Premature Over Planning in the Visualization
At the beginning it is important to not get submerged into too many details of the vision, otherwise visualizing can feel like work and lose its fun component. Some analytical minds get so caught up in the details that they start vibrating a feeling of overwhelm and inadequacy. You want to avoid feeling overwhelmed.

Keep a 35,000-foot over view. Do not get stuck in the mentality that you must do it all yourself. We need to stay out of our way. You do that by staying focused on the result. Take the beginning action and see what unfolds.

    5. Ignoring the Bliss Principal
Follow your inspiration, your joy and you will attract everything you need.
If it feels like a struggle you are on the wrong track. It is crucial to FEEL GOOD and to FEEL ALIVE.

There is a temptation to think that we are doing it wrong. You will encounter obstacles but that does not mean you are doing it wrong.
Beating the drum of “What am I doing wrong? What am I doing wrong?” becomes what is wrong.

    6. Ignoring the Expansive Principal
Being an expansive person means you more than fill your current position. If you are in a dysfunctional environment and more than fill your current position, know that it is quite possible that you will be disliked. If you re in a positive environment people will appreciate you and encourage you.
An expansive person has high energy, is positive, and is someone who is always advancing. This is a very powerful yet hidden principal. You must become the person you see yourself as and put your self in that position.

Am I affecting those around me positively?

    7. Focusing too much on getting what you want.

Focusing too hard and too much on getting what you want, creates doubt and a feeling of lack. You must learn to create value for others and then the more we give, the more we get. Too much focus on getting means you have lost the vision. The giving to others must be part of the vision. We need to see how we can give in relationships, in business, and in love.

These are the seven traps that people can fall into when working with the Law of Attraction, according to Dr. Symeon Rodger.

Be constantly grateful. Be thanksgiving. That means you remain constantly upbeat. Giving thanks will make you feel better. It is important to note that this is not just an intellectual concept but rather something you must feel. You need to give thanks frequently so that it becomes a default mentality. Dr. Symeon suggests for starters giving thanks 3 x a day. Then increase this to 5 x a day. Then try and stay grateful for 30 minutes at a time. All ancient traditions state that there is not better faster way to connect with Source than to give thanks.

Focus on the immediate vision – your day at hand and 6 months out. It must inspire you. If it seems life fun you are then on the right track. Inspiration is an absolute principal of life… beyond us.

Joy is the fuel of the Law of Attraction.
Take action yet do not trespass into the How to.
Ask for guidance and source will give it to you.
Always aim your action at being of service to others; adding value.
Always keep in mind how you feel moment to moment.
Happiness is often talked about in superficial ways and in circumstances around us. Joy goes much further.

Practice these steps. Take action. Be persistent. Be patient and watch the magic happen.
